Wine Summary
Leconfield is a “distinguished estate with a proud history” (Halliday). In 1974, Sydney Hamilton, who already had enjoyed a celebrated winemaking career, bought land in Coonawarra in order to produce classic Coonawarra Cabernet on the famed terra rossa soils here. He named his estate after an ancestor of his from England, Lord Leconfield, and did indeed build a huge reputation not only for his Cabernet Sauvignon, but Cabernet Franc and Merlot too. This outstanding 2021 release has won a Trophy, Gold and scores of 95 and 92. It's a delight. "Deep and bright red-purple colour, with a bouquet of humus and tobacco, a hint of green-olive, the palate full of sweet, ripe and quite luscious fruit, beautifully framed by fine tannins and impeccably balanced. Long carry; high cellaring potential. A cracking Merlot and great value for money" (Huon Hooke, The Real Review).

Wine Summary
A deliciously smooth and silky GSM from the great Richard Hamilton estate. Fruit comes from the Hamilton family’s Farm Block, while the individual varieties, Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre were fermented separately and aged in seasoned oak to retain fruit dominance. Full red with youthful crimson hues. Subtle use of oak allows the fruit to shine through to reveal attractive hints of boiled fruit cake with cinnamon and cloves this wine will accompany the best pasta, paella, or rich gamey meals – or just enjoy it on its own.

Wine Summary
Since Tony Laithwaite first worked in Castillon, in 1967, he has been a champion of the region. As Wine International wrote, and he believes: “If it weren’t for the line dividing Castillon from Saint Emilion, its wines would be twice the price. The hills are the same, the soil is the same, the exposure is the same.” In 1980 Tony bought Château La Clarière and has been proving his point ever since, winning Golds and Trophies, and twice the coveted Paris’ Lauréat Prix d’Excellence. The team has led the field in innovation too and no expense is spared: low yields for intensity, rigorous sorting for quality, and ageing in the finest new French oak. This is the fine claret from his family estate – a top vintage, delicious now and will age well. Ripe plum, strawberry, blackcurrant, pepper spice and tobacco aromas. Velvety, textured, with firm tannins, great balance of fruit and oak.

Wine Summary
An expression of the region's maritime climate, Zonte's Footstep's beloved McLaren Vale grape factory produces Shiraz with a signature milk chocolate core – their wonky take on decadent and lush. As they say at the winery, it's "Willy, Willy Good". Named for its prized chocolate character, this McLaren Vale classic melds dark cherries and plums with black forest cake and mocha to create a seam velvety flavour coursing to a long finish. "Excellent length here with very fine, plush tannins and impeccable balance. Lots to love and a wine which will age for a decade... Great value... 94pts" (Ken Gargett, WinePilot).

Wine Summary
Montefalco lies in central Umbria, a forgotten subregion of Italy that is rising up once more. Sagrantino is its secret grape, lending deep fruit, with hints of herbs and liquorice and firm tannins. For the latter reason, it only makes up 15% of this rich, ageworthy wine. Founded just in 1995, Còlpetrone is a leading estate in Montefalco. Winemaking is under the guidance of one of Italy's most renowned consultants, Riccardo Cotarella. The majority of the wine is dark, cherry filled Sangiovese, with portions of both Merlot and Sagrantino, all traditionally fermented, then long aged in vat. With firm tannins and classic Italian acidity, the wine has aged well. Dusty cherry and plum, liquorice and sage notes. Open early and enjoy with beef ragú with pasta, a hearty lasagne or grilled meats.

Wine Summary
The Pike brothers established Pikes winery in the Polish Hill sub-region of the Clare Valley in 1984, renovating an old stone shearing shed to house their winery and cellar door. Neil is the veteran winemaker (he’s done over 38 vintages in Clare); Andrew the seasoned viticulturist (he spent 22 years working for big names like Wynn’s Coonawarra and Southcorp before establishing Pikes). Together they turn out formidable wines that earn plenty of show medals and critical acclaim. Their richly textured 2021 'Wilfred's Block' really is magnificent. A definitive Australian blend of inky, slatey Cabernet and sumptuous, spicy Shiraz, it’s a contemplative wine – the layers of flavour will reveal themselves slowly – and perfect for winter sipping. It will cellar well until 2029, but is drinking beautifully now. Decant, pour into big glasses, and savour with good food and good friends.

Wine Summary
Crafted near the Adelaide Hills, the brilliantly rich, Spanish-inspired Redheads Vin'Atus is a must-have for any serious fan of RedHeads. Made in Australia from a trio of Spanish grapes spied on the Rocca's small family property in One Tree Hill, a tiny hamlet between the Barossa and Adelaide Hills. Not quite in the elevated part, it gets quite warm during the day, but there’s a cool draught from the Hills at night, which slows ripening and explains the amazing deep crimson hue. A blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Grenache, this playful drop struts dark, brooding Aussie pizzazz with old-world inspiration. Enjoy complex aromas of spiced plum, dark berries and savoury spice, hints of dark chocolate and vanilla with silky tannins and a pleasant, lengthy finish. Pair your Redheads Vin'Atus with a flavoursome saffron infused chorizo paella. Simply delicious.
Dartington Decanter Curve
A gift from the leading name in English glassware...
Wine Summary
Most young wines benefit from decanting 30 minutes before serving, allowing aromas and flavours to unfurl. Pour mature wines slowly into a decanter and gently rotate the bottle at the end to catch any sediment in the shoulder of the bottle.
