Founded in 1886 by Dr William Angove of Cornwall. He began making wine and brandy as a hobby (a product they're still famous for), but by the early 1900s had built a fully equipped cellar and planted extensive vineyards in the Adelaide foothills. Today, fifth-generation Victoria and Richard Angove run the business, while Sophie Angove oversees viticulture. They continue to pioneer modern styles of wine with a focus on sustainability. We have been working with the Angove family for many years, and our close, personal connection has developed into an exclusive wine range. One of our favourites is the Angove Bin 7890 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. Medium-bodied with bright aromas of passionfruit, guava, green apple, citrus and a cut grass edge. Clean and crisp on the finish. Enjoy it with an orzo salad or break out the finger sandwiches and share it around.
This gorgeously refreshing white is made by the talented John Quarisa, who – aside from winning a coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy – has enjoyed a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years” (Halliday). John likes his wines to express big personality, juicy fruit and value for money. They also have a magic knack of winning Gold – often several times over! Mouthwateringly fresh and bursting with citrus. Lemon and lime run across the palate, with subtle green apple hints. This Gold winner would happily pair with a platter of fresh prawns.
The Italian families of the Riverina have been producing royally good wines for years and now the secret is out! In critic James Halliday’s words... Calabria Family Wines “consistently delivers exceptional value for money across the entire range”. Bill Calabria, the leading light behind the winery's success, received a Queen’s Birthday Honour for his services to charity and the wine industry as a whole. And his winery has won Trophies and Golds galore. Made in the light, crisp and zesty Italian style by Chief Winemaker Emma Norbiato, this dazzling Aussie Pinot Grigio makes a wonderful partner to Italian fare like pizza, pasta, grilled meats ... you get the picture!
Elegant and refreshing with beautiful aromas of stone fruit, lifted peach, zesty pineapple and delicate citrus notes. Crisp and fresh mandarin jumps from the palate followed by pithy lemon. A zingy finish with lingering acidity. 16 Little Black Pigs is one of our biggest selling ranges. When you see a pig on the bottle, you know you're in for a good wine and a great time.
Andrew McPherson grew up in the world of wine and went on to work for some top names in Australia before setting up his own independent winery. McPherson Wines have cemented themselves a reputation for quality, efficiency and innovation. For a top twenty Aussie winery, they certainly fly under the radar, but that's the way they like it. It allows winemaker Jo Nash and her team to focus on what really matters – making sophisticated wines like The Full Fifteen Chardonnay. It tastes just as good as (if not better) than many Chardonnays twice the price. A small amount of fermentation in oak has lent The Full Fifteen Chardonnay lovely toasty nuances, a nutty complexity and a soft creamy character. Enjoy it with creamy chicken and a side of charred broccolini.
The 2019 Trimboli “Salvatore” Trebbiano scooped a Gold medal at the Australian Italian Varietal Awards Wine Show. The wine then went on to receive the Trophy at the same show and then... Chief Judges Award for Most Exciting Wine of the Show! Sam, who has won hundreds and hundreds of Golds over the years (plus some MAJOR Trophies) has always handled this Italian white grape superbly. This is the vintage 3 years on, but we think it is just as delicious. Sam is on a winner here! White fruit, elegant charm and a lick of French oak.
