Our Jumbo Reds cases hold 15 bottles, it's bigger than your standard box. And a bigger case means bigger savings. Taste five amazing Australian reds (three bottles of each) from top winemakers like John Quarisa, Sam Trimboli, and more.
Sam Trimboli's luscious Salvatore combines three great grape varieties to make one awesome red. His wife Maria who works with him is from Argentina, so Malbec is a given. And there’s not a winemaker around who can resist Shiraz. Sam also has a passion for Durif and has done for decades. Malbec offers robust tannins and an inky blueberry velvetiness, Shiraz gives irresistible spice, and Durif provides herbal acidity. His grandfathers back in Italy began the winemaking tradition of the Trimboli family, and we think they would be very proud of Sam.
Fruit was harvested from the old vines grown at McPherson's riverside vineyard, situated on the banks of the Murray River. Sandy loam soils with excellent drainage providing ideal conditions for growing high quality, concentrated fruit. Separate parcels of the wine spent between 6 and 12 months in French oak barriques. The final blend is made up of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Ruby Cabernet (a crossing between Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan). Enjoy lifted notes of vanilla, blackberry and redcurrant. On the palate, spice and rich black fruits are complemented with elegant oak. Perfectly balanced, with a firm, smooth tannin structure, it finishes with an enduring length of ripe fruit and French oak. Try it with spicy Asian dishes or slow-cooked beef ribs.
John and Josephine Quarisa’s passion extends far beyond the boundaries of the wine industry, to their home, their family, their hobbies, heritage and through the simplest things associated with everyday life. This life long, energetic partnership started at school when John and Josephine became high-school sweethearts. Over the years they have grown and developed and are still laughing and loving every step of the way. As a winemaker for over 30 years, John’s winemaking has been awarded some of Australia’s greatest accolades including both the Jimmy Watson and Stodart Trophies. John’s experience drove him to develop a range of wines that are down to earth, full of character and approachable. Also true of John himself! This Shiraz is intense cherry red with purple hues. Aromas of fresh ripe berries are complemented by rose petal and orange blossom. The same ripe berry flavours are given added complexity on the palate thanks to well-integrated vanillin oak and spice notes. Long, smooth and irresistible.
Black Pig fans need no introduction to the rich, opulent wines from this legendary range. They're made from top quality McLaren Vale fruit – and it shows in the ripe and velvety Black Pig Merlot. Dark fruits bounce out of the glass with fresh – almost jammy – plum, blackberry and cherry. Vanilla, spice and herbal hints throughout. The palate is generous and well rounded. Grilled lamb cutlets with a side of mash and cranberry jam would go quite nicely alongside.
This Cabernet is made by the Guglielmino family, who’ve been making spectacular wines since 1997. The family are passionate about displaying their Italian heritage in their selection of wine styles. Dark and deeply delicious, full of blackberry, plum, blackcurrant and a touch of French oak. It has moreish tannins and is best enjoyed with food. We suggest some braised beef ribs, garlic chicken wings or gorgonzola pizza!
