The Diners Reds Only Dozen with Aussie Fizz Case contents
One of our lovely team members, Sandra, came up with the concept for this label when we mentioned a classy new wine was on the way. The photograph was taken by her father of her stunningly beautiful mother Winsome, which they keep in an album referred to as The Notebook. This is the kind of wine you open on the verandah of a holiday house by the water somewhere with good food and good friends! Aromatic and approachable – everything you want in a tempting Tempranillo. Redcurrant and plum with a touch of savouriness, making it ideal with tapas.
After enjoying a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years, working for some of Australia’s largest wineries” (Halliday), John Quarisa is making his own wines – his own way. The result? Mile upon mile of excellent wines that continue to win Gold! Fragrant cassis, ripe plum with hints of mint and subtle cedar oak aromas, followed by rich black fruit, sweet plum and fine grain tannins across the palate. A soft generous wine which pairs perfectly with duck or rabbit. This wine has the flavour, structure and balance to be enjoyed now or offers added satisfaction from further cellaring.
Made with classy cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit from Victoria's Goulburn Valley and Strathbogie ranges, this delicious Sparkling from the McPherson family impresses with its elegance and flavour. A fresh and delicate nose with light fruits and yeasty tones, with hint of fresh berries and cream. A lovely, fresh wine with a lingering bead and a persistent length. It's a terrific apéritif, and of course, a wonderful celebratory drop. And it's a very bright and bubbly addition to any party. Enjoy!
The term ‘Wayfaring’ means ‘to travel’, while ‘Catador’ means ‘taster’ in Spanish. Bring these together and you get a rough definition of what our roving wine buyers do each vintage – discover the best wines from the best regions to bring you a stunning final product. This eye catching label depicts South Australia’s state flower: Sturt’s Desert Pea. South Australia is famous for its big, full-flavoured reds – this one is no exception. Rich aromas of red fruits, blackcurrant, and toasty, spicy oak notes. The Way & Cat is robust and opulent at the same time, showcasing classic South Australian varietal flavours.
Di Cavallo Sangiovese is the essence of Italy, a vibrant, ripe, cherry and redcurrant-scented red lifted by an appealing freshness. Ideal with classic Italian home cooking. Rubicone is part of Emilia Romagna, home to Parma ham, Parmesan cheese and Bolognese sauce. It’s the gastronomic heart of Italy and has been a wine growing region since Roman General Julius Caesar’s crossing of Emilia Romagna’s Rubicon River in 49 BC, more than 2,000 years ago. Sangiovese of course is the famous grape of Chianti in neighbouring Tuscany but euro for euro we reckon the quality on offer here from the outstanding Poderi dal Nespoli is unbeatable. A delicious glass for almost any occasion and a perfect partner for pasta with pesto, chicken or a tasty pizza.
This is a BIG fruity red that customers adore. It hails from a little-known region of Spain. Cast down its eastern coast and you’ll stumble across the desert-like landscape of Jumilla. It’s where Spaghetti Westerns used to be filmed and is home to some of the oldest and most concentrated Syrah and Monastrell vines in Spain. Camino de Seda, meaning ‘Silk Road’, comes from a winery just off this historic route that brought wealth and splendour to the region over 500 years ago. It’s crafted by Scottish-born winemaker Pamela Geddes. Her passion for wine took her to Australia where she learnt how to capture freshness and fruitiness in the hottest of climates, so she's right at home in Jumilla. Sweet mocha, blackberry and vanilla aromas, followed by super-concentrated black fruit flavours with an edge of spice. A warming red to enjoy with hearty dishes.
