Beyond the Labels
Chardonnay is the world’s most popular white wine – and it’s easy to see why. This particular white wine grape is incredibly versatile, delivering everything from citrusy, green flavours to fuller, creamier styles. You'll love the French and Aussie classics lined up here.
RedHeads aren't shy of creating a stir, all in the name of top winemaking. And Harmonie Chardie really rocks! Since starting off in 2002, Redheads have blazed a trail to become one of Australia’s leading sustainable cellars – masters of small-batch, eco-friendly winemaking. They've won 8 trophies and over 200 Golds for their wines, including two for the debut release of Harmonie Rox. All the grapes come from grower Jack Bursten’s unique Coonawarra vineyard. It was originally planted by the late, great Wayne Stehbans – twice winner of Australia’s most prestigious wine Trophy, the Jimmy Watson. So he knew a thing or two about growing top grapes! And it really shows in the wine. Fermented in part new French oak, it's creamy, spiced and fruity. Ripe peach and apple aromas, creamy citrus with a hint of spice.
Get ready for a blissful experience with this delightful South Australian Chardonnay, filled with bright tropical fruit and citrus fruit on a light, lovely palate. Perfect for sipping with good friends and a platter of delicious nibbles on lazy weekend afternoons.
Treasures is named after John's three children (who feature on the label) and there's no doubting that the best fruit and a whole lot of passion and craftsmanship has gone into this wine. It's made with prime fruit from South Australia’s cool climate Adelaide Hills region, renowned for its top shelf Chardonnays. You’ll enjoy bright fruit – peaches, melons, nectarines – a lovely creamy texture, and a crisply refreshing finish. It’s a treat with flavoursome Italian dishes like veal saltimbocca, or grilled fish with fresh herbs.
A rich, top class Chardonnay from Le Chai au Quai, without a lofty appellation or price tag, but with Gold medal heritage! How do the winemakers at our grand 19th century cellar in Castillon manage that? They search every remote corner of France for fruit with superb ripeness and intensity, and aren’t bothered by the appellation on the label. So their top Chardonnay is unlikely to come from Burgundy. In fact this luscious white uses grapes gathered from the hills close to Carcassonne in the Languedoc. It’s an ultra rich style, the wine fermented and aged in barrel. And, just like all the finest Burgundies, it went through a malolactic fermentation, which makes the wine even creamier. Gently chilled, it’s superb with white meats or salmon.
