Deep, dark in colour, this wonderful grape originated in Bordeaux. It is also found in south-west France in Cahors where it is simply known as ‘Cot’. Because of its deep, dark, rich colour it blends beautifully with Cabernet and Merlot and has firm, robust tannins – another reason why it makes such as good blending grape and has superb ageing ability. The grape thrives in France but also Argentina, where the grape is blessed with copious sunshine. In the mid 19th century a strain went to South America. Here here it is deep purple in colour, velvety, spicy, rich and oh so juicy.
