Château La Haille is a magnificent, historic estate that’s now in the custodianship of the Labat family. The oldest part of the château, two of the four original towers, dates back to the 14th century, and local legend tells of two secret tunnels, one leading to the neighbouring Château de Vaure, with the other leading to the nearby town of Pujol. Fast forward to the 20th century, and the father of the current owner replanted every vineyard, meaning the vines are mature, well established, and producing healthy, concentrated fruit. Especially so in 2015, when the hot summer led to a smaller harvest of outstanding quality fruit. The sumptuous flavours and textures of this Gold medal claret complement roasts, richly sauced pasta and cheeses.
